LEADERSHIP CHALLENGE: STRETCH-PUSH THE COMFORT ZONE
One of our greatest challenges as leaders is to be constantly pushing the envelope. We dare not rest on our laurels. We cannot achieve greatness by doing everything the same as yesterday. Comfort can be dangerous. It provides a base line but does not define our ceiling.
You do not change by accident. It must be intentional. Take ownership of your own growth. I offer you three challenges to grow as a leader:
- Accept and Embrace Change.
Tony Robbins says, “Expect change. Analyze the landscape. Take the opportunities. Stop being the chess piece; become the player. It’s your move.”
- Risk.
Try! You may fail. Try anyway!
Neil Gamain said, “Go and make interesting mistakes, make amazing mistakes, make glorious and fantastic mistakes. Break rules. Leave the world more interesting for your being here.”
“Don’t fear failure so much that you refuse to try new things. The saddest summary of a life contains three descriptions: could have, might have, and should have.” (Louis E. Boone)
- Do the Work.
“You cannot rely on chance or the work of someone else. Success is built on hard work.
I had to make my own living and my own opportunity. But I made it! Don’t sit down and wait for the opportunities to come. Get up and make them!” Madam C. J. Walker
Julie Andrews, added, “Sometimes opportunities float right past your nose. Work hard, apply yourself, and be ready. When an opportunity comes you can grab it.”
May you know the success that comes when you accept and embrace change, where you take risks, and when you do the hard work. Where are your strengths as a leader? How can you grow? This link will take you to a simple leadership strength builder assessment. You will receive a big picture evaluation and a specific growth opportunity report.
