John Maxwell is famous for the statement, “Everything rises and falls on leadership.” Everything!
People try to deny the importance of leadership. Maxwell said, “whenever I make that statement the listeners are tempted to change it to, almost everything rises and falls on leadership.” Most people have a desire to look for the exception instead of the desire to become exceptional.
Our world craves good leaders. Whether it is in politics, religion, business, education, or law, the universally expressed need is for leaders who will rise to meet the challenges that seem to overwhelm many of today’s organizations.
People want leaders, they yearn for someone to lead them. “For every man who has the ability to lead there are a thousand waiting to be led.” Roy L. Smith
There is a serious leadership vacuum in society today. One study found that 90% of Americans believe the nation is facing a crisis of leadership. You can be part of the solution to that leadership crisis.
Are you ready to lead? I have been influenced by this quote: “If you think you are leading, but no one is following you are taking a walk and talking to yourself.” When I am the leader, it is wise to look around to see if people are following. If they are not, it may be that I am not the leader.
“When the people quit following, the leader is done leading.”
